Times. Tasks normally start at 10:00 on site and finish at 16:00.
Things to bring. STCV provide all the tools you will need for the task. You will need to bring a packed lunch and drinks. We suggest you wear old working clothes and stout boots or shoes, trainers are less suitable. Safety footwear is not necessary but if you have it you may prefer to wear it.
Safety First. STCV is fully insured for you to use the tools we provide. We give safety talks before starting work and our task leaders are trained in the leadership of working parties. Each work party includes a trained first aider and we have the necessary first aid kit.
Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Working with the STCV is a good way to fulfil some of the parts of a DoE award. STCV has been involved with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme since 1992. Young people working for their various awards work conscientiously in a relaxed team alongside experienced members of the Group. They are continuously assessed as they learn practical, as well as social skills, and gain an insight into management of the countryside.
